We know that not everybody wants to spend a fortune getting the biggest makeup products, and you shouldn’t have to. Creating iconic looks without breaking the bank is more than possible – so here are a few things to keep in mind when buying makeup on a budget.
Do Your Research
Start by hitting the books, metaphorically speaking that is. You’re not the only one looking to save their cash when buying makeup and there are plenty of finds online that can help you locate cheaper, and sometimes better, alternatives than those big, celebrity-endorsed beauty lines. If you have a product in mind, look up some substitutes and find what people recommend. Likewise, there are also DIY makeup recipes if you’re feeling creative.
Experiment with Dupes
You can’t be afraid to experiment and find something that works for you. Just as with anything, different products are going to agree with different people. It’s better to experiment with the various dupes and find the perfect choice for you rather than spend a fortune on a product that may not even be friendly to your skin type. Save the cash and take the time.
Explore Your Dollar Store
Forget the stigma – sometimes the best products are the cheapest. It may not seem like it, but the makeup section in your local dollar store could have some amazing finds – you just need to be aware of where you need to look. They won’t all be winners but there will be a few that’ll definitely impress you.
Ignore Peer Pressure
We know it’s nice to be able to name drop a product or a line that you use. Sometimes, it’s just not worth it. In the makeup industry, having a big brand name doesn’t necessarily mean that the product is good quality or that it’s being sold for what it’s really worth. Forget those who turn up their noses at people who use budget makeup and, instead, show them what they’re missing.
