Qualification Outcome 1 – Business Stream
This qualification reflects the role of senior managers and small business owners of personal services businesses. They are responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operation of the business and for planning, monitoring and evaluating the work of the team. Salon managers also operate with significant autonomy to make strategic business management decisions. This qualification provides a pathway to work as a salon manager in any type of personal service business including hairdressing or beauty salons, barber shops and spas. No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.
Qualification Outcome 2 – Combined Business/IPL Stream
In addition to the above you will also be able to apply substantial specialised knowledge and skills to design and safely apply non-ionising radiation treatments using intense pulsed light and laser technologies to reduce unwanted hair on the face and body. In this role they make complex, high level, independent judgements in consulting with clients and analysing their skin and hair characteristics, designing and evaluating intense pulsed light and laser hair reduction treatment programs, selecting and using appropriate technology, and applying it within the context of safe client and operator practices and in compliance with regulatory requirements. Ongoing technological developments in this area of practice require the use of broad knowledge and the identification, analysis and evaluation of information from a variety of sources to build personal capability. Practice may be undertaken in the hair reduction stream of the beauty industry.
On completion of the Combined Business/IPL Stream of the Diploma of Salon Management Qualification, you will automatically receive:
• An IPL/Laser Safety Officer’s Certificate (Recognised by the Radiological Council of WA and QLD Radiation Health) (Approved by Queensland Radiation Health. Approval no: ED229)
Course Duration and Study Options
The course runs over 12 months with pre-written work prior to a 6 day face to face intensive practical component with classes held from 9.00am to 5.00pm over (6) days. The 6 day face to face component can be spread to suit you or blocked as 6 days consecutively for those from a distance. This is arranged to suit after you have completed the written component of each of the units contained within the qualification. You should allow for approx. 15 hours of supported online flexible learning in your own time each week. We use a university level, highly interactive Learning Management System that includes interactive forums, numerous learning tools to assist along the entire process with ongoing and unlimited quizzes and revision in a highly supportive environment. You will always have access to support while having the flexibility to work, parent and have a work life balance.
Business Stream – $7,750 of which $5,075 can be covered by VET Student Loans. Balance of $2,675 can be covered with a payment plan of $52 per week or paid upfront.
Combined Business/IPL Stream – $9,750 of which $5,075 can be covered by VET Student Loans. Balance of $4,675 can be covered on a payment plan of $90 per week or paid upfront.
Additional Fees not included in Tuition Fees
All students will be required to pay a (non-refundable) equipment fee of $250 to cover uniforms and textbook/s at enrolment. There are no hidden costs!
