This qualification reflects the role of individuals employed as make-up artists to design and apply make-up for a range of purposes and occasions across the beauty, fashion, media and entertainment industries.
These individuals possess a range of well-developed technical and consultation skills where discretion and judgement is required and are responsible for their own outputs. This includes working cooperatively with a range of individuals including photographers, fashion stylists and media production staff.
Work is typically conducted as part of a team or on a freelance basis in settings such as make-up studios, retail cosmetic counters, fashion and media sets and photography studios.
No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Course Duration and Study Options
Course duration: 4 months
Delivery: one 14 weeks term – 14 days face to face delivery.
Teacher directed study: Online over 10-15 hours per week over 1 x 14 week term.

Course Cost
The course costs $5,300 and includes, administration fees, enrolment costs, stock, consumables, equipment, resource materials, all learning materials and products for the entire course.

You will also receive a professional brush roll valued at $150.

Course Prerequisites
Students should have completed Year 10 (or equivalent) and should be at least 15 years of age. Younger applicants are welcome to apply and entry will be at the discretion of the RTO.

Career Opportunities
Students successfully completing this course may go on to further their studies by completing the Diploma of Screen and Media (Makeup) or the Diploma of Beauty Therapy.
Students at Demi International are given extensive real-world salon experience and the skills and knowledge to succeed as an exceptional Beauty Therapist in any business environment.

The assessment methods used in the Certificate III are competency based and include written and practical tasks. The assessment tasks are completed throughout your course of study.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy Advice
The National Reading Reporting System informs the identification and description of underpinning English language, literacy and numeracy features and requirements within competency standards. The learner’s language, literacy and numeracy levels are expected to be equivalent to 3/4 of the National Reporting System.
A sound level of English language skills (reading and writing skills) is required.
Oral communication – a learner will be able to use and respond to spoken language within a variety of contexts.
Numeracy and mathematics – a learner will be able to recognise and use a variety of conventions and symbolism of formal mathematics.

Demi International will provide learners with every opportunity to complete their chosen qualification. Support from your trainer is available to ensure you understand the learning and assessment requirements once you have commenced study with Demi International Beauty Academy. The Academy will identify and access appropriate support services, and ensure the necessary services are provided for participants as required.

Who can apply?
Apprenticeships and traineeships are available to individuals from the age of 15. School students, school leavers and job seekers are eligible to apply. There are no general prerequisites.
