HLTINF005 – Maintain infection prevention for skin penetration treatments for all Body Piercing, Cosmetic Tattooing & Tattooing Industries
This unit includes the skills and knowledge required to maintain infection prevention during skin penetration treatments and to review clinic compliance with the applicable state or territory and local council requirements.
It will give you the knowledge, skills and ability to identify, manage and control infection risks to clients, yourself and work colleagues in all body piercing, tattooing, cosmetic tattooing and related industries.
The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards and industry codes
This single unit course allows you to provide high risk personal appearance services including tattooing, body piercing and permanent make-up in accordance with the Public Health (Infection Control for Personal Appearance Services) Act 2012.
On successful completion of this unit, you will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.
- Allows participants to work in the higher risk personal appearance services industry e.g. tattooing, body piercing and permanent make-up.
- Extends Environmental Health Officer’s infection control knowledge when assessing workplaces.
- Allows Laser Operators to work within the industry.
Study mode and start date
External online study which allows you commence anytime from any location. Workbooks, learning materials and all assessment material is provided
through a link to a supported online learning management system (LMS) as soon as payment is made.
How long is the course?
This course is conducted online and externally. Students will need to pace their study to ensure they complete all requirements within 12 weeks, however
many students have completed this course in a matter of weeks. Students are required to complete a combination of short answer questions, an assignment
and a floor plan prior to a practical assessment that can be filmed and uploaded to the LMS. The practical assessment can be completed via your workplace or a simulated environment. All assessments must be completed to achieve competence in this unit.
The course costs $395 and the entire amount must be paid upfront to enrol in the unit. All work books and material is supplied to the student as part of the course costs. Payment plans do not apply to single subjects.
