Body Piercing is extremely popular but if you are going to carry out body piercing then you have to ensure that you are qualified. This is down to the fact that you are carrying out procedures that penetrate the skin and with that comes a number of risks.

Body piercers and operators are expected to meet all requirements of the Public Health Regulation 2012 as they relate to Skin Penetration procedures. In line with this, body piercing practitioners must also comply with the Children and Young Person (Care and Protection) Act 1998.

If you are carrying out body piercing then you must ensure that your premises are registered with the local council and as it comes with hygiene risks. You will also need to ensure that the right lighting is in place as well as the correct equipment that allows you to wash hands in warm water with liquid soap and single-use towels.

Obtain the right qualifications

As body piercing involves penetrating the skin, it is important that you possess the correct qualifications. This will mean that you have been taught the right skills and knowledge that makes it possible for you to assess each client and their requirements. You will then be able to identify the theory behind piercing the different areas of the body such as the nose, ear, cartilage or naval as well as attach all body jewellery.

The correct qualifications will ensure that you are provided with the correct guidelines that relate to skin penetration while having an understanding of infection. You will also have the ability to identify and adhere to the relevant workplace policies and procedures surrounding the industry.
